Bus Rapid Transit
The $300m East Colfax Bus Rapid Transit project is focused on moving people more efficiently, safely and sustainably along the corridor, from Union Station to the Anschutz Medical Campus. This “light rail on wheels” project involves new and enhanced transit stations, service amenities and improved pedestrian and bike connections. There will be new BRT transit stations in our district at Colfax & Elm, Colfax & Hudson and Colfax & Krameria. There are many benefits to this including efficient and affordable transportation for area workers and neighbors, more efficient vehicular traffic, more customers and foot traffic, new investment opportunities for residential development and more safety for everyone.
Construction
Improvements are scheduled to begin late 2025 and should last about a year. During that time:
- Colfax will not be closed end to end during construction. Rather construction will be phased from Elm Street to Monaco, and in the Mayfair Town Center.
- One lane of traffic in each direction will be open during construction and access will be maintained to all businesses. Some on-street parking may be temporarily unavailable during construction of transit stations (Elm, Hudson, Krameria). Side streets will remain open.
- Construction at transit stations and about one block east and west will take up to 90 days. Construction in segments in between will take about 30 days.
